On 29th April 2024 the Government introduced a further push for people to use Family Mediation or alternative dispute resolution before applying to the Court.
If you have children or financial matters to resolve, you will be strongly advised to try alternative methods before applying to Court. If you haven't attempted mediation before arriving at the first hearing, the Judge will ask for your reasons why and can halt proceedings to ask you to attend.
